چکیده
Four sets of experimental data were investigated in terms of normal distribution and presence of outliers. The following sets of compound were investigated: blood-brain barrier partitioning (n=105), inhibitory activity of para-substituted aromatic sulfonamides (n=47), inhibition activity of taxoids (n=63), and estrogen receptor binding affinity of triphenilacrylonitriles (n=25). The normality of experimental data was tested using the following tests: Jarque-Bera, Kormogorov-Smirnov, Anderson-Darling, Chi Square and Shapiro-Wilk. The Grubbs’ test was applied for identification of outliers. The inhibitory activity of taxoids proved to be single set of compounds normal distributed according to all applied normality tests. A proper structure-activity relationships analysis must be conducted on the sample of 98 blood-brain barrier partitioning compounds, on the sample of 34 parasubstituted aromatic sulfonamides, and on the sample of 22 estrogen receptor binding affinity of triphenilacrylonitriles.

A New Approach to Distribution Fitting: Decision on Beliefs
We introduce a new approach to distribution fitting, called Decision on Beliefs (DOB). The objective is to identify the probability distribution function (PDF) of a random variable X with the greatest possible confidence. It is known that f X is a member of = { , , }. 1 m S f L f To reach this goal and select X f from this set, we utilize stochastic dynamic programming and formulate this proble...
متن کاملFitting the Three-parameter Weibull Distribution by using Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure
The Weibull distribution is widely employed in several areas of engineering because it is an extremely flexible distribution with different shapes. Moreover, it can include characteristics of several other distributions. However, successful usage of Weibull distribution depends on estimation accuracy for three parameters of scale, shape and location. This issue shifts the attentions to the requ...
متن کاملThree-parameter Kappa distribution and its fitting to the whole monthly rainfall data of Abali station in Tehran province
Kappa distribution is a positively skewed distribution which is used in analyzing precipitation, wind speed and streamflow data. In this paper, first a three-parameter Kappa distribution that introduced by Park et al. (2009) is studied and then four different methods of estimation including Moments, L-Moments, Maximum Likelihood and Maximum Product Spacing Method are presented in order to estim...
متن کاملProbability Distribution Fitting to Maternal Mortality in Nigeria.
The consequences of Maternal Mortality (MM) cannot be overemphasized. It inhibits population growth resulting into loss of lives among others. This work tends to obtain the maternal mortality rates (MMR) in Nigeria, identify some fitted distributions to MMR and determine which of the distributions best fits the data. A comprehensive Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) was carried on MM and the MMRs...
متن کاملFitting Tree Height Distributions in Natural Beech Forest Stands of Guilan (Case Study: Masal)
In this research, modeling tree height distributions of beech in natural forests of Masal that is located in Guilan province; was investigated. Inventory was carried out using systematic random sampling with network dimensions of 150×200 m and area sample plot of 0.1 ha. DBH and heights of 630 beech trees in 30 sample plots were measured. Beta, Gamma, Normal, Log-normal and Weibull prob...
متن کاملFitting of Species Frequency Distribution Models in Woody Societies in Rangelands of Gouradarah, Gechigiran Ahar
One of the important goals of natural resource management is to conserve plant diversity in the ecosystem so that sites are more productive and more ecologically stable at the various situations. Different diversity indices have been presented to study the species status of natural ecosystems. One of these indicators is the use of empirical distribution models that each of these models ind...
